<description>Design, fabrication, and evaluation of a paddy collector
Abenir, Teresa Jane A.; Barde, Berbardo III D.; Patricio, John Dominic D.
The main objective of this work was to design, fabricate and evaluate a paddy collector. The fabrication involved lay outing, cutting of materials, machining, welding, boring, assembly, sanding, pretesting and painting. The paddy collector was tested under CapSU-Pontevedra PhilRice conditions. The main parameters obtained to answer the objectives of the study were actual and theoretical collecting capacity, collecting efficiency, noise level, quality of grain collected in terms of germination rate and cracked grain, fuel consumption of the machine, scattering loss, and comparison of the performance of paddy collector to manual grain collection in terms of collecting capacity, collecting efficiency, noise level, grain quality, fuel consumption, and cost of the machine. The machine had actual and theoretical collecting capacity of 365.33 kg/hr and 429.65 kg/hr, respectively and the efficiency of a paddy collector was 99.98 percent. It had a noise level of 99.82 db, fuel consumption of 905.78 mL, scattering loss of 0.047% and the rpm was 2358.7. The average augmented cracked grain percentage was 0%. The machine entailed a total annual fixed cost of Php. 9,713.73 per year and a variable cost of 112.98 Php/yr, with recovery period of investment of three months.

<description>Design, fabrication, and evaluation of a motor-driven shell washer
Biclar, Ricamei D.; Dela Cruz, Jayver Z.; Sabido, Joebert B.
The study was conducted to gather reliable information necessary for motor- driven shell washer. Specifically, it aimed to answer the following objectives: (1) Design a motordriven shell washer; (2) Fabricate a motor-driven shell washer; (3) Determine the performance of a shell washer in terms of cleaning capacity in kg/hr, holding capacity in kg/batch, percent breakage (%), percent uncleaned shell (%), cleaning efficiency in percent (%), cleaning recovery in percent (%), electrical energy consumption in (kW-hr), water consumption in (l/hr) and (4) Analyze the cost in operating the motor-driven shell washer. The machine was fabricated at Barangay X, Lawaan, Roxas City from November 2018 to January 2019. The fabrication processes involved lay-outing, cutting, boring, welding, sanding, assembly, pre-testing and painting. The design criteria of the machine are as follows: ease of loading, ease of cleaning parts, ease of adjusting and repair of parts, ease of collecting output, and ease of transporting the machine, safety and vibration. The fabricated machine was tested at Capiz State University Pontevedra Campus, Agricultural Engineering Department. It was found out that the cleaning capacity of the machine was 544.88kg/hr, holding capacity of 50 kg/batch, cleaning recovery of 48.74%, cleaning efficiency of 90.95%, electrical energy consumption of 0.14 kW-hr, water consumption of 1, 731.25 l/hr. The cost of operating is computed to be O.542 Php/kg. The return of investment was computed to be 4.84 months. The break even use was computed to be 66.16 kg/hr.

<description>Design, fabrication and evaluation of seafood grinder with mixer
Catalan, Robert A.; Bartolo, Mae Ann P.; Tabio, Kemberly S.
The seafood grinder with mixer was designed to help the local entrepreneurs in grinding their seafood product. The main objective of this study was to design, fabricate and evaluate a seafood grinder with mixer. The designed seafood grinder with mixer was based on the researchers’ idea and the suggestions of the Advisory Committee. The fabrication of seafood grinder with mixer was done at Lawaan, Roxas City, Capiz. The fabrication process of machine follow the standard process of fabricating. The final testing and evaluating of seafood grinder with mixer was done at the Agricultural &#13;
Engineering Department. The results of performance evaluating for four mm and six mm plate of the seafood grinder with mixer are as follows: the input capacity were 60.17 kg/hr and 105.27 kh/hr, output capacity were 9.28 kg/hr and 11.69 kg/hr, grinding recovery were 80.64 percent and 86.52 percent, grinding efficiency were 80.48 percent and 86.43 percent, mixing rate were 9.21 kg/hr and 12.19 kg/hr, mixing efficiency were &#13;
87.34 percent and 96.79 percent, the electric energy consumed during the testing were &#13;
0.22 kW-hr and 0.23 kW-hr. The cost analysis was determined with investment cost of &#13;
Php. 44, 610, total annual cost of Php 16, 059.60/yr, operating cost of Php 15.66/hr, custom hiring fee of Php 20.358/ kg, recovery period of Php 3.26/yr, rate of return of 31 percent and break even use of 23.39 kg/hr. The output product for three commodities when subjected to hedonic test were rated “like very much” by the respondents.

Degala, Mark A.; Almayda, Jeremeah Johnson D.; Gellecanao, Khim Joy M.
This study generally aimed to design, fabricate and evaluate downdraft rice husk gasifier with flatbed dryer. The designed downdraft rice husk gasifier was evaluated in terms of fuel consumption rate, percentage amount of char, specific gasification rate, and electric consumption; the performance of flatbed dryer was evaluated in terms of drying capacity, moisture reduction rate, heating system efficiency, heat utilization, energy consumption and drying efficiency. The evaluation procedure was based on PAES 202:2000 and PAES 265:2015. The results revealed that the average fuel consumption rate of downdraft rice gasifier in drying three rice varieties was 1.51 kg/hr. The average percent amount of char produced were 15.27 percent. The average specific gasification rate was 0.0028 hr− kg cm2. The average energy consumption was 22.80 watt-hr. The average drying capacity of flatbed dryer was 12.54 kg/hr. The average moisture reduction rate was 1.26 kg/hr. The average heating system efficiency was 64.60 percent, and the average heat utilized was 19,271.73 kJ/kg. The average energy consumption of flatbed dryer 7.11 kW-hr, and the average drying efficiency was 75.40 percent. The total expenditures of the machine was Php. 40, 200.20. The total fixed and variable cost was Php. 33.02/day and Php.213.26/ day, respectively. The break even drying cost was Php.0.09/bag. If the machine is offered for custom hiring, the drying fee is Php.12.32/bag with 30 percent mark-up.
