Android based English-Hiligaynon translator app for Panay Island

Abstract

This capstone project was a project of research at Capiz State University- Pilar Satellite Campus, Pilar, Capiz. It generally aimed to create an android application for the English-Hiligaynon translator and provides translation. Specifically, a.) Develop text-to-speech, b.) Design and implement a system that can translate Hiligaynon phrases, c.) To use the application offline, d.) Provide an audio for the pronunciation of Hiligaynon phrases. Further, the said android application can be used by almost everyone who has an android phone making it much easier for the locals and the foreigners visiting the province with having difficulty in speaking or understanding Hiligaynon. This application is very useful for users who having a problem. It was developed in Android Studio 2.3 as the IDE (Integrated Development Environment), Minimum Android version is 4.1 (Jelly Bean) for compatibility, with Java as the programming language, using SQLite as the database storage, utilizing Wavepad Sound Editor Software as the text-to-speech converter, and a laptop where all the applications are installed. Its offline feature making it easier to use as well as for the user without using internet connection.
