Problems and challenges of BSTM students on flexible learning

Abstract

This study was conducted at Capiz State University Sigma Satellite College to find out the problems and challenges that BSTM students encountered during flexible learning. This research utilized the descriptive research design. Data were gathered through Google form. Descriptive statistics was used to analyze descriptive data. Inferential statistics such as t-test and ANOVA were used to analyze significant differences among variables. Results of the study reveal that majority of the students were females and mostly were from first year level. Moreover, the top most problem of students was on the statement “I encountered issues with my Internet connection or equipment during my flexible learning experience,” followed by “Unstable internet connectivity,” “Electric power interruptions,” “I can’t balance school works with other activities” and lastly “Ineffective feedback and lack of study materials which has the same rank with the problem “Unfavorable home learning environment”. Generally, the top most challenges met by students was on the statement “I find it hard to set aside my homework and lesson”, followed by “I encounter Wi-Fi connectivity problems in our online classes”, “There are times that I can’t easily send my activity sheet because of low internet connection”, “I have poor time management skills during online class”, and “I have limited preparation before an online class”. Result further revealed that there was no significant differences in terms of problems and challenges on flexible learning according to their sex and year level.
