Problems encountered in teaching MAPEH in selected elementary schools in the District of Pilar

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the problems that teachers encountered in teaching MAPEH in the selected elementary schools in the district of Pilar. Particularly, it aimed to determine: the problems encountered by all MAPEH teachers in selected elementary schools in the district of Pilar; the possible causes to the existing problem in the selected elementary schools. The respondents were the 48 selected teachers in Selected Elementary Schools in the District of Pilar. A questionnaire was used to gather the needed data. The collected data were computed and tabulated using percentage. The respondents responded that majority of expert services rendered for the last five years were coaches, hence, there must be seminars and trainings for MAPEH teachers to develop their skills and knowledge on teaching MAPEH subject. On the other hand, all of the respondents had problems in teaching MAPEH considering that there was a lack of musical instrument (e.g. guitar, piano, flute, etc.). Thus, DepEd should be encouraged in providing budget for the instruments that were needed for teaching MAPEH. Meanwhile, Out of 48 respondents, majority indicated lack of budget funding as one of the causes to the existing problems in teaching MAPEH, therefore, The Department of Education in the District of Pilar should provide or allocate budget for the purchase of the schools facilities needed, equipment and instructional materials in teaching MAPEH. Three days seminar workshop is suggested to be conducted for the MAPEH teachers.
