dc.description.abstract | The study was conducted among college students of Capiz State University – Burias Campus in Academic Year 2018-2019, 2nd Semester, to answer the following statements of the problem: 1) What is the profile of the respondents in terms of age, sex, year level, course, civil status, religion and estimated monthly family income? 2) What is the level of awareness on Anti-smoking act among college students of CapSU-Burias? 3) What are the school-based related factors in terms of extent of information dissemination efforts, availability of reading materials, school activities/ program conducted regarding smoking and classroom activities/ teacher support? 4) Is there a significant difference in the level of awareness of students on the Anti-smoking Act of 2003 (R.A. 9211) when classified according to personal-related factors and school-based related factors? Data were gathered by the researchers using questionnaires from 245 college students and were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results were interpreted at 5% level of significance. The respondents were ranging from 17-19 years old, female, fourth year, BSED, single, Catholic and same family income of below 10,000. The results revealed that the respondents are strongly aware on anti-smoking act of 2003 (R.A. 9211). Furthermore, it was found that the civil status of the respondents was significantly related to their level of awareness of R.A. 9211. | en |
