Instructional strategies and teaching performance of BSTM instructors of Capiz State University Sigma Satellite College

Abstract

The main objective of the study was to investigate the instructional strategies and teaching performance of BSTM instructors teaching major subjects at Capiz State University Sigma Satellite College as perceived by the BSTM students during the A.Y. 2016- 2017. Descriptive method was used in conducting the study. The respondents were the 120 BSTM students. A survey questionnaire was used to collect the needed data. The statistical tools used for analyzing and interpreting the data were Mean, Standard deviation and Pearson's r. The Five Point Likert scale was used to determine the perception of the respondents on the instructional strategies and performance of BSTM instructors. The study found out that the instructional strategies often used of the BSTM instructors were communication and study skills and were perceived by the respondents as very favorable. In terms of teaching performance of BSTM instructors, teaching for independent learning was perceived as favorable. The relationship between the frequency of use of instructional strategies and teaching performance were found. The more often the instructional strategies used the better would be the teaching performance of the BSTM instructors.
