dc.description.abstract | This study was conducted to find out the support strategies of the low income families having a PWD`s children in San Esteban, Pilar, Capiz, Specifically, this study sought to find out the following question: 1. What are the socio demographic profile of the respondents in terms of age, sex and economic status? 2. What are the support strategies of the families of low income having PWD`s children? The respondents of the study were 22 selected low income families having PWD`s children in San Esteban Pilar Capiz and were selected using complete enumeration technique. Data were analyzed using statistical tools like frequency, percentage and mean.
Result revealed that out 22 respondents, 14 were female 8 were male, 12 were aging 47-57 years old, 8 were 36-46 years old, 2 were 25-35 years age, 16 were married and 6 were single, 14 were college graduate, 6 were college level and 2 were high school graduate, 13 were having a monthly income of Php 1,000 and below, 5 have Php 10,001 and above, 3 have Php 1,001-5,000, and i have monthly income of Php 5,001- 10,000.
The data also revealed that the respondents agreed on the financial support of the parents with a total mean score of 3.74. The respondent also agreed on the following statement on financial support; online business (m-3.87), donation from barangay (m-3.87), support from related families ( m -3.84), part time job (m- 386), apply for financial support from DSWD (m-3.57), lending money from lending institution (m-3.70), ask the support from other government (m-3.67), selling vegetable, kakanin etc. (m-3.41),support by non-relative family (m-3.70), and work on sugar cane/ farm etc.(m-3.39)
Result further revealed that the respondents agreed on the emotional support of the parents with a total mean score of 3.84. The respondents also agreed on the following statement on their emotional support; make his/her happy (m-3.93), gives his/her all attention (m-3.90), loving PWD child (m-3.50), always take care his/her (m-3.80), spend the time of your child (m-4.00), teach him to pray (m-3.83), teach his/her to respect others (m-3.87), PWD children as special giving by god (m- 3.97), give all his/her want ( m-3.70) and better understanding of the Child (m-3.93). | en |
