    Abstract
    Most of the fishing gears in municipal waters such as in Ameligan, Pontevedra, Capiz are small scale or artisanal. This study caught to identify the different species and measure the size of catch of fishermen using fish traps in Ameligan, Pontevedra, Capiz. It also aimed to determine the CPUE of the fish trap and the water parameters in the study area majority of the catch were composted of invertebrates which include Pistol Shrimp, River Swimming crab, Freshwater Prawns and Shrimps. Only one species of goby was caught. The small sizes and non commercially important fish species as well as low. CPUE slow that fishing in the area is not sustainable and also not so importable. The present situation indicates the need for alternative livelihood and conservation measures such as returning back very small or immature organisms as well as testing for the amount of chemicals from farming run of that may have contaminated the water.
