Attitude and academic achievement of grade 10 students in Araling Panlipunan
Abstract
Student attitude and how students feel about the subject and the curriculum standards in the core areas of school plays an important role in the academic achievement of students in the classroom. Student attitude is especially relevant with Araling Panlipunan classes where students often have a preconceived notion that Araling Panlipunan is not important to study for their future. However, Araling Panlipunan is vital for students to have an efficacious and active role in the society. This study examined the attitude and academic achievement of grade 10 students in Araling Panlipunan and determine if there is a correlation between the attitude and academic achievement of grade 10 students in Araling Panlipunan. The study used the quantitative research design, specifically descriptive design. Adapted questionnaire was used in analyzing the students’ attitude towards Araling Panlipunan and secondary data (students’ 1st and 2nd grading average grade in Araling Panlipunan) was used to determine the students’ academic achievement. Results shows that students have positive attitude towards Araling Panlipunan and their attitude towards the subject has nothing to do with their academic achievement.
