    Abstract
The study was conducted among 97 second year COE students at Capiz State University during the first semester of Academic Year 2016-2017, primarily to find out what is the Mathematical skills and performance of the respondents. Specifically, it tried to find out the profile of the respondents according to the sex, field of specialization, scholarship grant and nature of residency, respectively; determine the respondents’ level of mathematical skills; know the respondents’ level of performance in Mathematics; determine if there is a relationship between the mathematical skills of the respondents and their performance in mathematics and also to determine if there is a significant difference in the mathematical skills when respondents are group in terms of sex, field of specialization, scholarship grants, and nature of residency. The questionnaire was the main instrument used to collect data from the respondents. Results were interpreted using frequency counts, percentage and mean. Chi-square test, T-test, and ANOVA for inferential statistics. Data were analyzed at a five percent level of significance. Results of the study showed that the respondents were mostly females; most of the respondents were English majors, most of them lived at boarding houses, and most number of the respondents were government scholars. Results also showed that most respondents had mathematical skills, with a mean score of 16.79, and most of them performed in Mathematics, with a mean score of 2.13. ANOVA showed the results that the variables tested, scholarship grants significantly differed to the Mathematical skills of the respondents.
