Bachelor of Elementary Education students' strategies in preparation for the Licensure Examination
Abstract
The principal purpose of this study was to find out the strategies in preparing for the licensure examination of the fourth year Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEED) students of Capiz State University- Pilar. More specifically it aimed to determine the socio-demographic profile of the respondents in terms of age, sex, civil status, parent’s educational attainment, and parent’s monthly income; and the strategies of Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEED) students in preparation for the licensure examination. The data was collected through a standardized questionnaire among the 53 fourth year BEED students who were selected through total enumeration technique. The data gathered from the study were analyzed using licensed Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 29 software the Frequency Count and Percentage, Mean and Standard Deviation. Results indicated that most of them were females, single, aged 22-24 years old, whose parents were mostly high school graduates with the monthly income of 10, 000 and below. The data also showed that the strategies employed by the respondents were common strategies which included reviewing their homework, taking notes, and memorizing the materials. Further research with larger samples and the inclusion of qualitative data collection was recommended to further explore the test- taking strategies of the licensure examination takers.
