Android-based student handbook of Capiz State University

Abstract

The Android-based student handbook was developed from April 2023 to May 2024. The study’s general objective was to develop an Android-based student handbook. Specifically, it aimed to create an Android application that can be accessed easily to view the policies and services of the university ; develop a mobile application that is accessible anytime and anywhere, even with no internet connection ; design an application that can provide basic features of Capiz State University students’ handbook like the curricular offerings, academic affairs, guiding principles and core values, and code of discipline for students; develop a mobile application that can search specific content of the student handbook ; and determine the acceptability of the developed system using the ISO 25010 standards. The researcher used Java programming language to develop the system. The study respondents were all first-year students and eight (8) IT experts from Capiz State University Mambusao Satellite College, Mambusao Capiz. The instrument used was a questionnaire or the ISO 25010 standards to determine the efficiency, compatibility, reliability, usability, security and portability. Android based student handbook was “highly acceptable” in terms of functional suitability, maintainability, performance efficiency, compatibility, reliability, usability, security and portability.
