Attitude and readiness of Capiz State University BEED students in teaching using mother tongue
Abstract
The study was conducted at Capiz State University Burias Campus, Mambusao, Capiz during the academic year 2023-2024. Specifically, it aimed to find the relationship among variables. The respondents of the study were the 44 BEEd students. A researcher - made questionnaire was utilized to gather data. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics such as frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation. Results of the study revealed that most of the respondents were female, second year, lived off town, with mothers who were high school graduates, fathers who were elementary level, mothers who were unemployed and fathers who were unemployed. The study showed that as a whole and when grouped according to selected variables, the respondents’ level of attitude in teaching using the Mother Tongue was more favorable. However, if taken as a whole and when grouped according to selected variables, the respondents’ level of readiness in teaching using the Mother Tongue was high. Results of the study showed that there was no significant difference in the respondents’ attitude in teaching using Mother Tongue when grouped according to profile variables. Moreover, there was no significant difference in the respondents’ readiness in teaching using Mother Tongue when grouped according to profile variables. However, it was found out that there was a significant relationship between respondents’ attitude and readiness in teaching using Mother Tongue.
