Growth performance of broiler (Gallus gallus domesticus Linn) supplemented with different levels of kakawate (Gliricidia sepium J) leaf decoction in the drinking water
Abstract
This study was conducted at the Poultry Project of Capiz State University, Burias, Mambusao, Capiz from October 15 to November 20,2017to find out the growth performance of broiler (Gallus gallus domesticus Linn.) Supplemented with different levels of Kakawate decoction on the water intake, feed consumption, gain in weight, feed conversion ratio, and income–over-feed and supplement cost in 35 days of rearing. The study was conducted using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of four treatments replicated three times with five birds per replicate. The levels of Kakawate leaf decoction of drinking water (grams) used aside from the control treatment (pure drinking water) were 40 g, 60 g, and 80 g per liter of water. Observation and collection of the data lasted for 35 days. Results of the study showed that the feed consumption, gain in weight, water intake, and feed conversion ratio were not significantly affected by the different levels of Kakawate leaf decoction in the drinking water. Birds given pure drinking water gave the highest net profit of Php 88.46 per bird.
